Real Post

Here is my real post, that i was going to right in the placeholder spot, but if I leave it, it just looks like I made an effort to post even more.  Confused yet, lets move on shall we.

What a week.  I'm glad its Friday.  It started off crappy and most of the days stayed that way. But i've been *trying* to think positively and keep my chin up in the evenings. Monday I worked on making button templates and that is always lots of fun for me.

On Tuesday, despite leaving work later then I had hoped, it was a good night.  Met some new people, had some baked brie and made buttons.  I keep forgetting to take a picture of the finished buttons I'll do that tomorrow. Wed night we had a work dinner at the Canadian Living test kitchens, we learned how to make sponge toffee and it was soo good.

Pauly and I went for dinner and a movie tonight - we deserved it. At least that's what we told ourselves as we were leaving our messy apartment.  We say "Everything's Fine" with Robert DeNiro - it was great and I highly recommend it.

We don't have any big plans for tomorrow. I'm hoping to get my christmas quilt done - at least pinned and quilted.  I also need to finish paul's mom's gift and my sisters.  And a few secret gifts.  Its going to be a busy day.

ps - It FINALLY snowed here this week - it was a mess on wed - its started as snow, turned to rain, back to snow and then icy.  What a mess, and the winds have been crazy! I just about got blown away.  Two pics for you, one of the snow flurries outside my office window - what a great view I have.  An another one of me, all bundled up to battle the short walk to the subway.  I kinda look like an eskimo...lol

Place Holder

This is just a placeholder for a post i'm going to write later tonight (or early Saturday morning most likely).

But i just didn't want you to think i've disappeared again.  I'm here, we just decided we'd go out for dinner and a movie. :)

See you soon.

Busy but somewhat unproductive night ...

I originally thought I'd get lots done this week, but lets face it by the time work is done, I don't feel like doing anything!  Today was a pretty crummy day - which was disappointing since it was the first "official" snow fall of the year and I really didn't even get a chance to stare out the window and take it in. :(

But the good news is tonight has made up for the crummy day. Even though I didn't really do the "important" things on my to-do list I did work on button templates so I can whip up a whole bunch at the workroom tomorrow night.  I mean I think i'll probably end up making close to a hundred - or at least 50-75. But you really can never have too many buttons!

Want to see some of the images? I'm on paul's computer so lets see if I can post from here.

Aren't they just the cutest ever!!!

I also had a nice chat with my sis and cousin Michelle.  And even watched a bit of the Grinch with Jim Carrey.  All in all, the buttons totally cheered me up. Looking forward to making them tomorrow!  And I even got a post in!  Yeah for me.  Now seriously time for bed!

Crafting Catch Up

Alrighty, here we go - weeks of crafty goodness rolled up into one giant post!

Okay, so 3 weeks ago pauly and I took a week off (oh how i love holidays)  We started our holiday heading to Michigan to visit with paul's uncle.  We car pooled with his brother and sister in law - we had a great 3 days filled of mostly shopping! Got some great deals, and spent over an hour in Joanne's Fabrics - it was wonderful.

Once we got home, I had many crafty projects I wanted to work on.  #1 on the list though was a quilt for Dave and Erin's Wedding for November 21st.  Problem, we were away Monday and Tuesday, which left me 3 days to finish.   Good thing I do my best work under pressure and under deadlines.

I took pictures as I went along, and created this mosaic to showcase.   From piecing to pinning, to quilting to binding and the whole thing in a very clean living room.

I was so happy with the finished project - definitely one of my best.  I kinda didn't want to give it away. Luckly i'm working on one two for myself. :) And Dave and Erin loved it (I kinda made them open it before we left the wedding, cause I really wanted to see their reaction - I think they really liked it)

Do you wanna see the ones for me? I'll just assume you are saying yes.

This is going to be a lap quilt for cuddling on the couch.  I bought it as a kit last year at the creative festival - it was called mint chocolate chip.  The back is this velor-like green with brown polkadot fabric.
And this is my Christmas quilt.  I never thought I'd make a holiday quilt - I thought its a lot of time and effort for something that's only out on display for a few weeks, maybe months.  But this was just too easy, one big panel and two boarders.  I've been hung up all week on how to actually quilt it, tomorrow night I'm going to pin it and then just go with  the flow.  I have a few ideas, I think it will come to how I'm feeling at the moment. And to be honest, whatever is fastest, cause I really want to start using it this week!

Okay, on top of these 3 quilts, I made mom a quick little santa for her birthday (we had a surprise party for her last weekend) It was really quilt project - another kit from the creative festival - I really just glued all the pieces onto a wooden brush.

I also spent last Friday and Saturday baking cakes for the party.  It was not as pretty as I had hoped, and paul did the detail work, but it was yummy.

I've also been sewing Christmas gifts, which will remain a secret until i'm finished/ they are given, as you never know who is reading your secrets. ;o)

I think that brings us up to speed. It's been a busy weekend, shopping on Friday, 2 year olds birthday and hanging out with good friends on Saturday.  Slow cooker chili, brunch with my parents, finished up almost all of my Christmas shopping, baked 4 dozen cookies (okay i actually only baked 2 dozen, but the other 2 dozen are in the fridge, ready to be baked this week), did 2 loads of laundry, and I'm wrapping up the night watch my favourite sunday night shows (and oh what a GOOD night of TV) and blogging a massive post.

I think its time to shower and go to bed!

Clearly no time for updating

Okay, I will blame my lack of blogging on the fact that I've been spending my weekends resting (still getting over this bronchitis - which i *think* is almost gone!) and in between trying to sleep and coughing I've been a crafting mad women!

I'm in the middle of baking Christmas cookies right now (I've been doing a lot of baking/ cooking in the last few weeks too) so I'm going to come back and post tonight while I'm watching TV on the couch.  I'll be able to update with lots of pictures - so  beware - giant post with lots of good pics are on the way.

Oh and just so you know, I'm working on a blog header, since for a "very curious crafter" this blog is lacking some creativity! Its on its way!

Quick Note

Just a quick note, cause I feel like I'm letting people myself down by not keeping this blog up.   I've been super sick for the last few weeks.  Before you ask - no I didn't not have H1N1 or any type of the flu.   It started with a regular sinus infection, that because I couldn't take time off work turned into bronchitis and a mild chest infection.

I'm starting to feel much better though - which is good, cause my holidays start in T-3 days.  I have a hopefully final check up with the doctor in the morning. And hopefully all is cleared up - i'm sick of being sick!

In other news not much crafting has been happening.  I did manage to get most of the big long cabin quilt cut out and hopefully piecing will go really quickly since the entire thing needs to be done and wrapped up by November 21st.

We are heading to Michigan on Friday with Mark and Lisa to visit uncle Barry.  Looking forward to getting away and doing LOTS of shopping.  We are visiting a huge outlet mall and joanne's fabrics - that just happens to be having a big sale! I could come home with a lot more projects if i'm not careful!

Okay, its late, and i'm in a party dress (making sure it still fit for the upcoming wedding we have - its a bit tight, but i think i can still get away with it!) time for bed.

Back at it

Okay, after a few six months it’s time to get back to blogging. I have always used blogging in various places as a “Venting” mechanism, but while I’ve been away, in a horrible funk of nothingness, I’ve been reading all of these amazing bloggers write little things that inspire me or, let me get away out of the moment I’m in, and take me to a different place where my creativity wanders for hours.

This has taught me that there is no fun in reading a blog where the blogger just complains all the time and just talks about how bad things are.  I know that everyone has to make their own choices and their own decisions and for the last six to nine months I’ve been making the choice to not be happy, conscious of it or not. And to be honest I’m pretty sure that 89% of the time, I’ve purposely made the choice to be un-happy, it’s just been easier than being nice lately.

But it needs to stop and I need to change. That's why I'm in a new place - yet again.  I have blogged from a lot of places,  but this one, is more then that.  Obviously there will be bits and bites about me and what's going on in my life (I mean its still a bit interesting right?) but i'm going to focus on crafting and sewing and baking and all things positive, whenever possible.

Okay, no pictures tonight, but a decent start, if your here for the first time, welcome, if you've been following along at 101days and just stopped by, thank you for following!  I'm looking forward to the new journey!

In a new place ... again...

Okay, going to give it another go, but over here in a place more about crafting, and less about complaining...

Untill I can figure out how to automatically get things transfered over to the new place, or automatically re-direct, this post is the best I can do.

See you there!

Day 112 (yup, i'm getting lazy)

Okay, So Since day 101 I haven't exactly been keeping up, but then again the blog was titled 101 days - so I don't feel so guilty!

That being said, I think I'll change the name to 101+some days of nothing. Either that, or I've been contemplating changing my blog to a "mostly" craft blog and changing its name to "The Curious Crafter" this is the name i go by on twitter and Etsy and think if I was to start selling any of my creations I'd go by this name. Although I need to put some more thoughts against that before I make the actual change.

So what's happened since the 19th. Not much, back to work. Ho hum. Last week was not a great week, Aaron didn't leave any lists/ notes/ updates from when I was off, and he was gone all week on Jury Duty. Several big things came up and Kim and I struggled to deal with them and get things done. It was frustrating. I had my second appointment with Shirin and i'm very happy with the way things are going, Wednesday was a frustrating day and I walked out of her office a few hours later, feeling like things were going to be better in the future.

Knit group on Thursday - they changed the seating areas in the Timothys it was weird, but they have these benches now and I think as long as someone is there early we might be in a better spot to get more people sitting together. Friday I veg'd out alone since Paul went for dinner in KW with the crew. I was going to do some sewing, but I just watched TV and chatted with Chrissy instead.

Saturday was Stacey & Nick's wedding and what a beautiful day it was. Great weather, great ceremony, good food - and they looked so happy.

Sunday we did nothing - cleaned up and did some grocery shopping. Nice weekend. And very much looking forward to this weekend, so we can do a bit of nothing again. I totally am living for the weekends. That and another week off. Only 62 days till Vegas!

- finished book club book, and had our first mtg.

although still not looking forward to work tomorrow.

DAY ONE HUNDRED AND ONE!

TODAY IS DAY ONE HUNDRED AND ONE! I'm here!

Okay, several failed attempts at actually blogging everyday, but I'm still pretty proud. Through this whole thing, i've started reading a ton of blogs, my favourties are at the side, and its made me think - what makes a good blog?

I know i'm not there yet - but one day I hope to be.

If you've been following me over the last 101 days, THANK YOU, for sticking around and listening to me vent, thats really what this blog has been for. But you might start to see some things change around here. First of all - I might not post every day. But i'm going to at least post once a week - and hopefully more uplifting. It will probably be craft focused, but there will still be a bit of my everyday life in there - cause to me its still interesting.

Today i'm on a schedule, I have a lot to do, a house to clean from top to bottom. So i'm going to go and get on with things, but i'll be back later today. Day 101 deseres at least 2 posts I think!

Day Ninety Nine & One Hundred!

Wholy Crap.

I know I have been a bad blogger this week. I'm on holidays have all this time on my hand, and I can't even bother to right a decent post! I've even had some decently excting things to chat about and I haven't.

And now tomorrow is day 101!!! oh wow.

Okay, well i need to do some reading and get to bed, cause even though tomorrow is my last day off, i have a meeting - i'll explain later (no its not a job interview). But i will do a big(ish) post tomorrow, and update some pics from my visit with manda and the kiddies, and my sewing project this week.

Day Ninety Five, Six & Seven

I'm on holidays. Yippee.

I haven't updated in a few days. Saturday we were in Ripley for Easter at pauls mom's we had a good time and lots of good food.

Yesterday we stopped into Guelph to see the Amanda, Miguel and the kiddies, good visit. Came home made dinner, and noticed a "dripping" sound, to discover that our "roof" was leaking, except there is an apartment above us. They weren't home, and we called Richard aka our landlord, he zipped over right away. I ran upstairs, and you could hear water running, it was crazy. Turns out there garbage disposal jammed and plugged the sink, it had been overflowing all weekend! There whole kitchen was flooded, which then started coming through to our hallway.

Lucky we dont have much damage, and I think most of upstairs was repairable, but it kept us busy for a few hours yesterday.

Today i sat around and played this computer game mom gave me basically all day..lol, good waste of time. i think now i'm going to read for a bit and head to bed.

Day Ninty Three & Four

Okay, again another missed day. But guess what i'm on holidays WOO HOO!

A whole 10 days away from work! Yesterday, I worked till 6:30ish, went to the mall (bought nothing, just wandered) went home, surfed the web, tried to think of something quick to sew, started sewing and stopped when I realized it was 9. Started/finished making a ton of mini cupcakes with homemade icing, cleaned the kitchen and it was time for bed.

Today we got up by 8:30 and got ready, and drove here to London to mom and dad's had a good dinner with everyone and driving to ripley to do it all over again tomorrow with other family.

Home sunday, and sleeping for the week. Ya right, i'd like to but i have a lot on my "want-to-acomplish list" we'll see how far i get.

For now i'm going - probably wont be here again tomorrow - but i'll be back sunday.

Day Ninety One & Two

No big blog news, i'm sick again. Go figure. I came home from work early yesterday and was sick on the cab ride home - very gross. I was feeling much better today and worked till 7:30ish, paul had dinner ready when I got home - what a nice guy. But i've now been coughing up flem for about an hour - and its really starting to hurt. I had a very hot shower to try and loosen up stuff, but it didn't do much. I think its time for bed.

Day Ninety

Wow. Day Ninety. 11 Days till i've reached my "goal" i say that lightly, since i've clearly missed a few days here and there - however overall i've done good. (wow, who's from the country now?)

Today was decently productive. Work went fast, got several things crossed off my list. Stopped at the mall, and got a sweater to match my dress for the wedding - I gave up on the chance of knitting one in time - besides i think this one will work much better and it was only 20 bucks - can't beat a deal!

Came home, started dinner, cleaned the kitchen, did two loads of laundry, cleaned up from dinner, had a shower, put the clothes away. I'm going to blow dry my hair, and go to bed and read before calling it a night. Overall decent day.
